The bull is sacred and revered in many cultures. In Cyprus archeologists have uncovered bull masks made from real skulls which were worn in rites. Corresponding bull-masked terra cotta figurines show them in use. Neolithic bull-horns sometimes decorated stone altars. And bull jewelry such as this Cypriot from the Met Museum adorned the ancients.
